Importance to the broader Parish & School community
Linking faith and education is an element of catholic schooling that makes it unique. Its most significant aspect is the strong sense of community and support that is provided to students, parents and teachers through an intricate relationship between the parish and school life.
Like all Sacraments, Reconciliation is of extreme importance and value to the Parish and School context. It is a sacrament that not only heals and develops ones personal relationship with God, but, also is an outward lesson and expression of the need to heal and develop the relationships with those around us within our personal and wider community.
Reconciliation is a deeply personal and reflective sacrament, and it is human nature to want to feel connected with others, and understand that we our not alone in any journey we take in life. Clearly when children are taught about the process and meaning of healing and strengthening ones relationship with God and those around them, a strong connection to the Parish community will help nurture and encourage their healing relationship with God. They will understand that they are not alone in the mistakes and wrong doings commited in their lives. As a parish community we grow and support one another in building our relationship with God. As supported by the CEO (2009),

"It is a wonderful witness to those receiving a sacrament for the
first time that this
is not an isolated instance
of sacramental celebration,
but a way of life lived by a sacramental community." (p.3)
